I was very fortunate to attend a barangay fiesta at San Isidro, San Luis, Pampanga last May 15, 2015. Our photography friend who married a Kapampangan invited us to their barangay fiesta.
The Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation (FPPF) designated the Pulilan Kneeling Carabao Festival as one of the 4 OTS this year. We decided to shoot this festival on the 15th so that we could also attend the fiesta at San Isidro, San Luis, Pampanga.
It was a very festive day at San Isidro. Almost all houses along the road had visitors. We visited two houses and unfortunately, I forgot to take picture of the foods at the 2nd house. There were a lot of dishes – including the famous Burong Isda. There were also a lot of desserts including Mangoes, Halayang Ube, Tiramisu, Suman, Maja Blanca, etc.
We had lunch and dinner at San Isidro and before we left, we witnessed a procession of the barangay’s several saint, including St Isidore the Laborer – patron saint of farmers, St Agustin, St Monica, among others. It’s truly remarkable that this town maintained the traditional Filipino fiesta.
